The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute Benefit was the event of the evening on May 1 in New York City, marking the opening of the exhibition “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty”. The hand-picked guests vied with each other in creativity to honor the fashion icon.
Michael Kors is proud to announce that several guests wore bespoke creations from the Michael Kors collection during the evening. Emily Blunt wore a white French lace blouse, sequined flower brooch and black oversized organza bow tie with matching duchesse satin pants and overskirt, all hand-embroidered with nearly 350,000 recycled sequins. Kerry Washington wore a skirt and bandeau in guipure lace and tulle, both hand-embroidered with over 135,000 recycled sequins. Lea Michele made a sparkling appearance in a silver tulle gown adorned with 11,700 mirrored sequins and 10,100 individually stitched crystals.
Guests were dressed with great attention to detail and meticulous craftsmanship, requiring hours of work to embroider each piece by hand. Appliquéd flowers were created by embossing petals of individually embroidered sequins fused to a silk base, adding depth and volume to the creations. Gradients of sequins and layers of tulle and lace added texture and movement to the collection’s creations.
Michael Kors Collection’s bespoke pieces were perfectly integrated into the evening’s universe, adding a touch of glamour and sophistication to the guests’ outfits. In short, Michael Kors Collection once again proved its mastery of the art of haute couture, offering bespoke creations of exceptional quality and refinement.
