Anna Wintour: impeccable square, dark glasses, vest on the shoulders and a smile as rare as a snowflake in the Sahara. The height of fashion: it is her – for many anyway. Established in the U.S. as a fashion goddess, her endorsement can jumpstart the careers of young designers. Her opinion counts, she knows it and everyone knows it.
Popularized as Meryl Streep in “The Devil Wears Prada”, Miss Wintour has become a key figure in pop culture and her name is no longer a talisman reserved for fashion enthusiasts.
So in this period of fashion shows, whether you are interested or not, whether you are anti-fashion jaded, or fashionista hysterical, the fallout will be the same for everyone. One way or another you will be affected by the trends of the fashion shows: the big chains of stores are on the lookout and even the boutiques that claim to be the most marginal ones echo them in a more or less direct way. Whether they’re rehashed as is or reworked, the trends of summer 2016 will reach you.
Who better than Anna Wintour to say what will work. So, what do you think about NY Fashion Week?
Two distinct schools according to Wintour: a romantic trend with some Spanish touches seen in Oscar de La Renta, Rodarte or Proenza Schouler.
On the other side, a more daring and provocative trend inspired by the street, the underground. A trend that has lasted for several seasons under the leadership of Alexander Wang. Also found in the Jamaican vibes of Tommy Hilfiger, or athletic Lacoste.
Next predilections, soon!
