Raf Simons Spring/Summer 2014

Not content with showing his collections in Paris, Raf Simons chose to bring his guests to the Gagosian gallery in Le Bourget (93) to present his latest creations. Echoing the installations already present in the gallery, the Spring/Summer 2014 Raf Simons collection was an interesting interpretation of the pop-art movement, to say the least.

Prints on tunics, high socks and micro-shorts were as much a part of the uniform as big color-block boots.
Everyone remembers the admiration provoked by Raf Simons’ Spring/Summer collection, which included long tunics for men. This season, the Belgian designer repeats the experiment, offering mid-thigh-length tunics worn with shorts, long sleeveless coats.
Prints are varied at Raf Simons, the pop inspiration being obvious. Slogans such as “Artificially Flavoured”/”This Is The New Special” are displayed right on the garment, recalling the new wave of 60s advertising.

A fan of minimalism, Raf Simons also favors clean lines and color blocking, which he puts at the heart of his collection. This is one of the reasons why we can also appreciate the presence of more sober patterns such as stripes, highlighting the varied colors.

The spirit of the collection was embodied by the following cast: George de Saint Mars, Matthieu Grégoire, Adrien Sahores, Andrew Westermann, Benjamin Waters, Ben Jarvis, Ben Stift, Guerrino Santulliana, Elliot Vulliod, Robert Laby, Alexander Ferrario, Yannick Abrath, Lewis Conlon and Corentin Renault.
