Missoni Uomo Spring/Summer 2014

Missoni, a house renowned for its knitwear, took us on a journey through the jungle for its latest men’s show. The floor littered with bamboo mats was a nod to the season’s inspiration: assertive exostime without falling into ridiculous kitsch.

Knitwear is the Italian house’s specialty, and even for the Spring/Summer season, we could see that Missoni was keen to assert this distinctive savoir-faire, through cashmere sweaters. The tartan, a recurring motif in the collection, is deconstructed and oversized in shades of blue and gray.

This season, Missoni focuses on strong prints and revisited classic patterns: stripes, Prince of Wales, checks and zigzags, injected directly into the knit structure.

Colors and shapes are delicate at Missoni, and the Missoni man sports a casual silhouette that’s nonetheless elegant and unostentatious. The details are where the breadth of his elegance is fully expressed. Sweaters have rounded collars and are worn under loose-fitting blazers and cardigans. Pants are tailored and flare at the thigh, and shorts are absolutely divine, showing off miles of shapely leg.

The cast included: Benoni Loos, Demy Matzen, Bastiaan Van Gaalen, Reece Sanders, a group of laid-back young men who perfectly embody the Missoni attitude for the season.
