These days, little girls are increasingly on the cutting edge of fashion. This initiation into the world of aesthetic appearance and clothing begins as early as possible with their toys. For more than 50 years, the Barbie doll has been an indirect way of appropriating an outfit, to “do as the big girls do”.

We all remember a collaboration with a certain shoemaker famous for his scarlet soles. Now Coach, the prestigious leather goods manufacturer, is getting in on the act by collaborating with Barbie. Available at Printemps in autumn 2013, the doll will wear Coach’s iconic timeless pieces: a Tattersall trench coat over a striped sweater and a suede skirt. For accessories, a pair of sunglasses and stilettos straight from the Coach collection. And finally, the brand’s iconic Legacy Duffle bag, an exact replica of the original model also made in Coach’s workshops. It’s a testament to the meticulous attention to detail that went into Barbie’s outfit, the eternal queen of style.
