image002A few days ago, we discovered the TITANIC exhibition, which runs from June 1 to September 15 at Paris Expo, Porte de Versailles.

We were charmed by the exhibition’s meticulous staging, but above all by its ability to bring to life, without dramatization, the tragic stories of the passengers on this ship that was thought to be unsinkable. A true testimonial to a bygone era, we heartily recommend boarding the Titanic.

This exhibition focuses on the powerful stories of the men and women aboard the legendary RMS Titanic, stories told through more than 280 moving artifacts recovered from the wreck site and numerous reconstructions of the ship’s cabins. Unique objects such as a perfume belonging to a manufacturer on his way to New York to sell samples, china bearing the logo of the White Star Line’s flagship, a cook’s chef’s hat and a passenger’s travel bag all help to forge an emotional link with the victims whose lives were tragically ended or forever altered. And so begins a journey back in time to discover the history of the Titanic, from its construction to life on board, including its terrible sinking and the campaigns to recover objects from the bottom of the ocean

As soon as they enter, visitors are immediately transported back to 1912, as each of them is presented with a replica boarding pass like those held by the Titanic’s real passengers. This is the beginning of a journey back in time to discover the history of the Titanic, from its construction
to life on board, including its terrible sinking and the campaigns to recover objects from the ocean floor. Over the past 18 years, more than 25 million visitors have seen this magnificent exhibition in the world’s greatest museums, from Chicago to London to Los Angeles. RMS Titanic, Inc. is the only company legally authorized to recover objects from the area where the Titanic sank. In 1994, it was granted “salvor-in-possession” rights by the U.S. Federal Court, giving it exclusive rights to visit the wreck and preserve objects recovered from the site. It has led 8 search and recovery expeditions since 1987, bringing to the surface over 5,500 objects from the site of the sinking of the Titanic. Visitors will be moved by so many tragic and fantastic stories of heroism and humanity, illustrated by numerous authentic objects, as well as surprising reconstructions of the interior of the giant of the seas.
