The Hermès Vintage sale organized on Wednesday July 24 by ARTCURIAL Briest-Poulain-F.Tajan in Monaco was a sell-out this year!
The second Monegasque auction in the Vintage & Collectibles department achieved a handsome result of 1,590,000 euros, thanks to a fine selection of bags coveted by connoisseurs from all over the world.
According to the department’s director, Cyril Pigot: “Rare, high-quality Vintage pieces continue to attract the interest of an ever-growing number of enthusiasts. Hermès Vintage bags are becoming works of art in their own right, and their prices real safe havens.”
One of the prestigious French brand’s emblematic models tops the sale. The famous Birkin bag is once again a hit in this sale.
A remarkable Birkin Himalaya bag in white niloticus crocodile, dated 2010, fetches a handsome 77,400 euros.
A Birkin model in ember-red porosus crocodile, dated 2007, exceeded its estimate range and achieved 53,000 euros.
Among the rare pieces that reached new heights, the very elegant Himalaya symbiosis tote bag tripled its estimate and surpassed the previous world record. Special mention goes to this superb bag in white ostrich leather, natural cowhide, beige lizard and plum doblis calfskin, estimated at between 12,000 and 15,000 euros and sold for 45,200 euros.
Hermès lovers and vintage enthusiasts were also able to bid on other emblematic Hermès models.
