The first rays of sunlight carve the details of the façade of this beautiful building constructed in 1913, also the date of the creation of the Brasserie des Brotteaux. On the terrace in fine weather, or in the magnificent Art Nouveau dining room, customers enjoy their
coffees and tartines comfortably seated on bottle-green Moleskine benches.

Brasserie des Brotteaux celebrates its centenary in Lyon! Lunch is a lively affair, with waiters moving between tables with their champagne buckets tinkling with ice cubes and bottles, offering dishes of the day or house specialties such as the brasserie platter, leek vinaigrette, eggs mayonnaise with truffles and tartare au couteau, available in three sizes and three versions. In the afternoon, some let their minds wander to the interlacing of roses, ivy and other foliage on the ceramic frescoes; others enjoy a Paris-Brest or a homemade fruit tart made with hazelnut flour from a famous Beaujolais miller,

Jean-Marc Montegottero. Alain Milliat’s fruit juices are also on the menu. Powdered lighting for dinner, an intimate, elegant atmosphere. On the wood and copper counter, cocktails line up, from classics (bloody marys and James Bond-style martinis) to “creations of the day”.

Emmanuel Faucon tells us:Full screen capture 08072013 115632.bmp
“It’s a family business that I’ve run alone since 2003. Lise Faucon, my mother, preceded me in this position since 1991 to initiate the growth of the Brasserie. The decor is in the purest Art Nouveau style, inspired by the world of plants, with flowing ornamental shapes, mouldings and hand-painted tiles.
The oak bar, also over a hundred years old, could tell the tale of a bar! Gilardoni and Brault, Hector Guimard’s resident ceramists, were responsible for the establishment’s magnificent facings, notably the “Binelles vase”.
They also designed the ceramics for London’s magnificent Michelin House. In 2000, the Brasserie des Brotteaux was awarded the “20th century heritage” label. This label distinguishes the major buildings and urban ensembles of the 20th century (some 2,200 buildings have been awarded the label in France). ”
