From June 18 to July 31, Street Art invites itself to the Lutetia with a committed artist: Thom Thom

From June 18 to July 31, the Hotel Lutetia will be showcasing the work of Thom Thom, a street artist of unparalleled talent and offbeat style. Thom’s work plays on thickness, updating parts of old advertising posters to create a mosaic of images. Among the 15 works to be exhibited at Lutetia, a series of portraits of women will be on view in the Gallery and Salon Saint-Germain of the Hotel Lutetia. Often perfectly coiffed and made-up, the models will be disfigured to become more beautiful.

Armed with his cutter, he slices, dices, sculpts, chisels, tears, peels and reattaches huge advertising billboards. Detonating the commercialism displayed on city walls, he reorganizes the advertising message to elevate it to the rank of urban art. Street art has been around for decades, but this artist wanted to do something innovative and make his mark. In this self-respecting movement, consumerist advertising undergoes a violent mutilation that metamorphoses it into a committed work of art, meticulously crafted and taking around 20 hours to complete, Thom doesn’t need a wall, just posters.
