The legendary Prince de Galles hotel, a jewel of Art Deco style, reopens its doors after a complete restoration lasting two
years. The Luxsure teams were on hand to preview this magical place. Armed with Lomos and our favorite smartphones, here’s our photo report.

The Prince of Wales confirms its Art Deco influence while adding a welcome je ne sais quoi of modernity. The charm is there. By unveiling a mosaic of Parisian elegance, Le Prince de Galles has positioned itself as the meeting place for discerning customers seeking the discretion of a luxurious address in the heart of the capital’s most sought-after district: the Golden Triangle and the Champs-Elysées.

This restoration, carried out by ERTIM Architectes SA in collaboration with two internationally renowned decorators, Pierre-Yves Rochon and Bruno Borrione, revives the modern architectural style of the Prince de Galles, the only Art Deco hotel in
the capital. This project is part of a major strategy by Starwood Hotels & Resorts and its owners, who have decided to invest over 150 million euros in restoring the most emblematic European hotels in the Luxury Collection. The Alfonso XIII in Seville and the Maria Cristina in San Sebastian reopened in 2012, while the Gritti Palace in Venice was inaugurated on February 1, 2013.

A PARISIAN PIED-À-TERRE IN AN ART DÉCO JOYAU
Attention to the smallest detail characterizes the work of Pierre-Yves Rochon, who redesigned the lobby, the tness center and all the accommodation spaces, 115 rooms and 44 suites. Clad in black marble and macassar, the lobby is adorned with a chandelier designed by Delisle, whose structure incorporates the three feathers of the Prince of Wales’s historic plume. Macassar ebony console, Parsua carpet and 1920s armchairs…
The décor evokes the intimate atmosphere of a luxury home. The decoration of the rooms, conceived as so many rooms of this house, reinterprets with modernity the Art Deco style in vogue at the beginning of the 1930s. Made-to-measure furniture, macassar ebony decorations, Saint Laurent marble floors, mosaics, manufactured wallpapers… the finest craftsmen (Delisle, Pierre Frey, Craman Lagarde…) chosen by Pierre-Yves Rochon have worked to revive this exceptional address. Filled with silky fabrics and precious woods, the 115 rooms, in orange or celadon, seduce with their elegant modernity. In the bathrooms, mirrors, lighting fixtures and mosaics revive the combinatorial and graphic games so dear to Art Deco interiors.
Remarkably spacious, the 44 suites of the Prince de Galles are divided into two spaces separated by a sliding partition typical of 1930s architecture, and feature a dialogue between pieces of furniture inspired by the great decorators of the time (Rulhman, Leleu, Delisle…) and contemporary details such as lighting fixtures and bathroom furniture, offering travelers the Parisian chic of one of the most admired decorative styles and the contemporary comfort of the greatest international addresses.
On the hotel’s eighth and top floor, L’Appartement Parisien offers the change of scenery and charm of a true Parisian pied-à-terre, opening onto the city from its 85 m2 private terrace. On two floors, in tune with current trends, the furnishings are arranged around a masterly iron and gilded staircase with Art Deco accents. A 245 m2 jewel of contemporary elegance, with two living rooms, a dining room, two bedrooms and a fully equipped kitchen.

A UNIVERSE DEDICATED TO GASTRONOMY AND THE ART OF LIVING
In charge of the kitchens, Stéphanie Le Quellec, the signature chef of the new French generation, has designed a culinary experience full of generosity that enlivens every moment of the day, from breakfast to the menu of the Les Heures bar and the Patio. An epicurean space designed in collaboration with Bruno Borrione, who has created a dreamy, contemporary style.
The gastronomic restaurant La Scène is all about pleasure, with a cuisine that is both precise and easy to understand, focusing on the quality of products and a seasonal menu of generous dishes. This approach is reflected in the architecture of
restaurant, a warm marble and rosewood décor designed by Bruno Borrione around a vast open kitchen, a stage for the spectacle of culinary art at the service of exceptional products, to the delight of the eye.
At the Les Heures bar, the cocktail menu pays homage to the carefree spirit of the Années Folles. For an aperitif or the second half of an evening, cocktail-lovers come together to taste eervescent creations and share Stéphanie Le Quellec’s fingerfoods of seasonal produce. The adjoining patio, whose original mosaic has been meticulously restored, is an ideal place to sip a coffee or cocktail from the Les Heures menu.

A PARISIAN ICON
The Prince de Galles is first and foremost a hotel of warm dimensions to which Simon Rusconi intends to give back all its uniqueness: “I want guests to take back possession of this House, a term that evokes both hospitality and the excellence of Parisian savoir-faire. I have only one ambition: to make new guests and regulars feel at home here, and to make the Prince de Galles their starting point for discovering the hidden treasures of this magnificent city, revealing a mosaic of enriching experiences.”
Appreciated for its discretion and elegance, the Prince de Galles was designed by architect André Arfvidson and inaugurated in 1928 in the heart of the Art Deco period. Located on Avenue George V, just a stone’s throw from the Champs-Elysées and its
boutiques, the business district and cultural and historical sites, the Prince de Galles is at the heart of Parisian elegance. Guests at the Prince de Galles can take advantage of the expert advice of passionate concierges to discover Paris’s emblematic monuments, as well as its many secrets. A rare experience that makes the Prince de Galles the preferred address for a stay in the City of Light.
The Prince de Galles also boasts a fitness room, a wellness suite and a private lounge that can accommodate up to 90 people.
