Just a few days ago, we tested Renault’s all-new Captur in Biarritz, giving us the opportunity to discover the Basque country and the strengths of this car, for which the brand has high expectations of this crossover. Renault Captur combines, as Renault knows how to do, 3 ingredients: the personality and robustness of the SUV, the functionality and habitability of the MPV, and the dynamism and driving pleasure of the sedan. With Captur, Renault is aiming to make a name for itself in the B segment, which has been expanding rapidly in recent years.
Here are the pictures of our journey.
RENAULT CAPTUR, THE URBAN CROSSOVER, BY RENAULT
Captur is Renault’s new urban crossover. Its fluid design cultivates a sense of proportion: large wheels, high ground clearance, wide tracks, forward-mounted windscreen… A mix of MPV, SUV and sedan, imagined and produced by Renault. It’s an original combination that’s visually appealing and won’t go unnoticed.
DESIGNED FOR POWER, PRACTICAL FOR EVERYDAY USE
Renault Captur is an urban crossover, all shapes and forms. Compact (4.12 m x 1.77 m x 1.57 m), with large wheels (16 or 17 inches), it shows its sporty vocation and its taste for leisure. Its high ground clearance (200 mm) puts it on a par with some of the crossovers and 4x4s in the higher segment.
Renault Captur’s robust appearance makes it seem more imposing and impressive than its actual dimensions would suggest. Renault Captur’s volumes are fluid and muscular. The sloping, forward-mounted windshield adds dynamism to the line. The rocker panels form a shield for all urban
or country escapades. Thanks to the two-part horizontal taillights, the tailgate offers a wide opening,
without any “cube” effect. Generous wheel rims fill the wheel arches. With styling details that are functional, original and modern, Renault Captur reveals its great practicality. For example, the door sills have been designed to protect them, so that you don’t get dirty when getting in.
Renault Captur is highly customizable. With its combinations of two-tone body colors, wheel colors, interior ambiences (light or dark), upholstery and graphic themes, Captur reflects the most varied personalities and desires. We love the two-tone orange variation, as well as the black and white. Customers can put together their own personalization package,
harmonizing the interior and exterior with attractively priced packages. The personalization offer is structured around three distinctive universes named “Arizona”, “Azur” and “Manhattan”, each evoking a specific theme: escape, elegance or the city. These universes each present examples of possible configurations.
Compact – barely longer than New Clio – Renault Captur is particularly roomy. The sliding rear bench seat puts rear passengers and their luggage at ease. Trunk space is generous, with a maximum capacity of 455 dm3 under the parcel shelf. On board, two clever innovations underline Captur’s “car for living” character: the large glovebox drawer (11 liters) with contents easily accessible by the driver; and seat upholstery that can be unzipped, machine-washed and replaced.
Renault Captur accompanies the launch of Renault R-Link. This integrated tablet innovates by creating a link between the automotive world and connected life. Simple and intuitive, R-Link gives access to a wide range of useful services. Called the “R-Link Store”, its evolving catalog of applications already boasts some fifty offerings. Dedicated to automotive use, these applications cover a wide range of fields. R-Link Store thus has everything it takes to become the benchmark for automotive application stores. The Renault R-Link in-car multimedia tablet gives access to unprecedented connectivity and an unrivalled catalog of automotive applications. The high, ergonomic driving position inspires confidence, as do passive safety, roadholding and braking. Ride comfort is inherited from the B platform, shared with New Clio.

Renault Captur puts pleasure and economy at the heart of its “100% turbo” engines. The petrol engines selected are the Energy TCe 90 (3 cylinders, 898 cm3 only) and the TCe 120 EDC (4 cylinders, 1198 cm3). The latter is offered exclusively with the EDC (Efficient Dual Clutch) dual-clutch gearbox, a guarantee of great driving comfort. As for the Energy dCi 90 diesel engine, it consumes just 3.6 l/100 km* and emits just 95 g C02/km*: a record in its class. It will also be available at a later date with the EDC dual-clutch gearbox.
Produced in the Valladolid plant (Spain), with a particular focus on quality and respect for the environment, Renault Captur includes up to 16% recycled plastics in its manufacture. An invisible but remarkable performance.
Because it’s a crossover designed by Renault, Captur is uncompromising in terms of active and passive safety
on all versions. This demand for safety goes hand in hand with another
Renault expertise: comfort. Renault Captur has been specifically tuned for its
special features. The softness of the suspension and the sensitivity of the steering, in particular,
have received special attention. And because it’s a Renault, running costs are
under control.
CONQUERING NEW CUSTOMERS
