Burberry Prorsum (Latin for “forward”) is a century-old brand that has adapted to the times thanks to the leadership of its brilliant Creative Director Christopher Bailey. This season, however, Burberry has opted to return to its basics (compared to last season, when the house integrated color and metalics galore), but not without a dose of English originality and phlegm.

So, yes, Burberry is all about the trench coat, THE iconic piece. But to limit the British house to this one and only piece would be to deprive ourselves of the full creative palette and resources at Christopher Bailey’s disposal. A romantic dandy, the Burberry man embraces a part of his femininity without hesitation. The prints found on many of the pieces are proof of this: leopard and tiger blend happily with the house’s signature “Nova Check” in total looks or in touches (on collar lapels, shoes, accessories).

Romanticism again, in the form of heart-shaped prints on the shirts… Tailoring is the house’s trademark, so we’re treated to pieces with slim, clean silhouettes (no belts!). No color splurges this season, the palette is that of Burberry’s Nova Check: beige, black, burgundy and a smattering of khaki.

The mix of materials is present, with leather inserts on the collars, pony and leather bags and particularly striking pieces, notably the transparent latex trenches.

A collection that perfectly matches the image the brand represents in the collective mind: timeless classics mixed with other pieces full of winks and subtle humor. In short, a house that moves forward.
