Société cultivates tradition!

Invited to a press lunch by Roquefort Société… I’m a bit dubious. This very tasty product isn’t very glamorous to begin with. So we set off with a lot of apriori and Epinal images in mind, like that of a moustachioed man turning over cheeses in a cellar. A nice marketing neck, I thought….
But no! Le roquefort Société cultivates know-how and perpetuates tradition. The Roqueforts sold in supermarkets have been preserved in century-old cellars. The brand has succeeded in offering a quality product to as many people as possible. 2013 is a special year, as Société celebrates its 150th anniversary.

The lunch was held at the Carré des Feuillant. Chef Alain Dutournier has teamed up with the brand for this very special 2013. It was an opportunity to get to know a charming man who concocted a top-flight meal for us. During the meal, I also learned about the key role of the affineurs. We were also able to taste different varieties of Roquefort, with varying degrees of strength, which helped us break down our preconceptions about this cheese.
