Hexa by Kuho Fall/Winter 2013/2014

Hexa by Kuho has decided to open its collection with yellow looks and a mix of materials. The color palette might lead us to believe that this collection is light and cheerful, but that would be sadly mistaken, and the prints on the garments (grenades and shells) are there to remind us of the theme of this collection, dramatically named “Resistance Love”.

The contrast between warm colors and serious prints is at the heart of Jung Kuho’s collection: love, by definition, is a complex feeling, and war is its direct antonym, and it’s this contradiction that is illustrated at Hexa by Kuho.

Black looks illustrate darkness and the darkest things that can be found in the human heart: war and the means it uses.
Love is the greatest and most beautiful feeling of which human beings are capable, and it is expressed through the use of shiny materials and bright colors.

This autumn/winter Hexa by Kuho collection sounds more like a claim and a means of expression on the part of the designer. It’s true that it’s quite distressing, reminiscent of dark and terrible times, but nuanced by the beauty of feeling. It reminds us of the schizophrenic times in which we live, and unfolds logically, drawing on darkness and ending on light.

It’s a Manichean vision that Hexa by Kuho offers us, but not without a touch of philosophy and poetry. Proof that fashion can also think.
