To mark the 20th anniversary of the death of dance virtuoso Rudolf Nureyev, the Monnaie de Paris is minting 2 new gold and silver coins designed by Christian Lacroix in the dancer’s likeness.
A 50-euro gold collector coin minted in just 2,000 copies and a 10-euro silver coin available in 10,000 copies were presented at a conference at the Opéra Garnier on Tuesday January 15.
These two coins inaugurate a new emblematic series dedicated to the 7 Arts launched by La Monnaie de Paris; the Nureyev coin, along with Dance, is the first Art in this series.
