“Where are we going out tonight?”

What are we doing tonight? – That’s the fateful question as the weekend approaches! “The idea of creating Urban Pulse came from a real reflection on the influx of new places to go out, the multiplication of means of transport and the difficulty of making a choice. We wanted to make life easier for everyone who goes out and about. Urban Pulse is now positioned as the ideal app, offering and bringing together all the steps for a successful outing!” explains Alain Staron, director of Urban Pulse.

Too much choice kills choice
Living in the city in 2013 looks like this: with the diversification, enrichment and rapid multiplication of offers and services for going out, meeting up or getting around, city dwellers find themselves drowning in a growing profusion of options and choices to make.

A plethora of options*: in 2012, there were already over 20,000 places to go out in the Paris region (restaurants, exhibition halls, theaters, cinemas, etc.). In terms of transport, there are some 35,000 bus stops, 1,400 metro/RER lines and more than 384,000 daily timetables in the Ile-de-France region. A number that doesn’t make life any easier. So the French rely on digital technology to help them find their way around, but here again, with 746 new apps appearing on the Apple Store every day, it’s hard to swallow it all up.

Urban Pulse, a solution to save our outings
A free application available on both IOS and Android, Urban Pulse aims to facilitate outings for all those who are lost when it comes to finding an original idea. With headings such as “A l’affiche”, “Promos”, “Lieux d’intérêt” and “Transport”, and thanks to geo-localization, the app makes it easy to find your way around.

Thanks to open data and numerous partners such as FNAC, Allociné, La Fourchette, Digitick, Paris Bouge, RATP, SNCF, Foursquare, Yelp etc., Urban Pulse guarantees its users good deals all year round. What’s more, every week the team identifies a dozen or so original or not-to-be-missed events. Shows, happy hours, fashion, restaurants, wellness, it’s all there to have a good time without breaking the bank. Fans of shopping and those eager for culinary discoveries will be delighted!

Today, Urban Pulse represents 200,000 downloads and almost 85,000 active users per week. In addition to its national dimension, Urban Pusle is also available internationally, in New York as well as in Paris and the surrounding region, Rennes, Chambéry, Strasbourg and Avignon. Over the next few months, the application will cover more than 50% of the French population, starting with deployment in the Lyon region in March.

Urban Pulse, a loyal community
More than just an application, Urban Pulse is also a loyal community. Every month, users get together for an expo-resto evening organized by Urban Pulse members. It’s a great opportunity to find out about the app’s outings and special offers, and to talk to the app’s developers about any good points or improvements.

After trying it out, Urban Pulse is another way of using geolocation applications. The application is complete and allows you to forget the constant and tiring zapping from one app to another.
