Innovation

Frida Giannini, Gucci Creative Director, speaks enthusiastically of these two characters: “They fascinate us because they are swept up in the whirlwind of a life of their own. We’re all looking forward to the new Guilty Black storyline.

The design

Gucci Guilty, adorned with the emblematic signature of the two interlaced Gs, was already inciting provocation. Now, with Gucci Guilty Black, those boundaries are pushed even further. The House’s label has never appeared so subversive.

The brand’s values are engraved in the colors of its iconic web stripe, red and green, symbolizing “Made in Italy” and its “luxurious heritage”. For Guilty Black, this stripe takes on the appearance of individual coded messages: red becomes a warning of danger for the heroine, while green evokes the hero’s immoderate temperament. The two incandescent black bottles embody absolute perfection.

As usual, the Gucci bottle is the fruit of unique expertise, where high-tech and high style merge to create an exceptional work of art. Frida Giannini underlines the power of this objet d’art: “For Guilty Black, I wanted a provocative curve, without denying Guilty’s already emblematic design. Here, the glass bottle is adorned with an evocative red for the feminine essence, and an intense green for the masculine fragrance, a timeless tribute to the Gucci Web strip.”

 

The campaign

The Gucci Guilty campaign, a combination of Frank Miller’s spectacular film noir universe and Frida Giannini’s sensuality, captured the world’s attention.

For this new project, artistic direction has once again been entrusted to Riccardo Ruini, Artistic Director of the REM Agency (Ruini e Mariotti), who has directed previous Gucci campaigns over the past five years. Gucci Guilty Pour Femme won the coveted “Best Media Campaign” award at the US FiFi Awards in 2011.

Like its predecessors, Gucci Guilty Black’s script, conceived by Frida Giannini, will have a strong impact on the minds of the younger generation; a fusion of avant-garde and creativity that is both remarkable and unforgettable.

Shot in Rome, at Cinecittà Studios, the legendary temple of Italian cinema, the promotional film was once again directed by Frank Miller, creator of Sin City, accompanied by his two actors, Evan Rachel Wood as the femme fatale and Chris Evans as the hero straight out of a Hollywood action movie. Now we meet them again in this new episode. A long-awaited sequel in which their complicity is explosive. In this new opus, our two rebels meet at a secret rendezvous. A night rain falls on the city. The hero Gucci Guilty Black emerges at the wheel of a Norton 750. Suddenly, a sumptuous Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud speeds up behind him, forcing him to stop. His partner, a predator with a taste for risk, devours him with her eyes. Our two non-conformist heroes each seek a new thrill in their own way. Once again, their pleasure knows no bounds.

Frank Miller talks about his characters: “We already know these two heroes, and we know what they’re capable of. This latest episode was conceived as a feature film. The graphic palette is striking: their eyes burn with desire under the green and red lights.” These color codes are echoed in the visuals of both bottles: passionate carmine flames for her, enigmatic emerald smoke for him.

Renowned fashion photographers Mert & Marcus have once again signed the press campaign with explosively sensual images, revealing the lovers’ bodies in electrifying light. Mert & Marcus explains: “We discover the couple bathed in the nocturnal glow of red and green neon lights. Very modern, very sexy, very Gucci.”

Resolutely focused on the younger generation, the campaign will once again make a splash thanks to the exploitation of the most innovative technologies. Like the huge success of the previous film, Gucci Guilty Black is destined to become an infectious phenomenon.
