RAMI AL ALI Spring / Summer 2013 Collection
For his third foray into the world of Fashion Week’s Capital, Syrian designer Rami Al Ali unveiled his Spring/Summer 2013 collection to Paris’ fashion elite on January 23
2013. Al Ali signs his return with a bold
collection, inspired by Gatsby the Magnificent.
A symbol of intrigue and drama, Gatsby the Magnificent reflects the image of opulence, glamour and insubordination. After decades of restriction, a wind of freedom was blowing through design. Gone are the days of strict silhouettes: women assert and expose themselves through impertinent fashion, free from barriers and rules! Passion and luxury eclipse duty and responsibility… The Années Folles are on the march!
An emblematic blend of this pivotal period, the collection reveals a mix of distinguished and bold hues. A cameo of neutral tones, cool gray, mocha beige and champagne, with vintage accents, is counterbalanced by fluorescent hues that infuse these dresses with a singular touch of modernity. The colors are fully expressed through a refined selection of fabrics, chosen for their structured fall. Sheer chiffon, flowing lamé and Moroccan crepe harmonize artistically to create a fresh, free-spirited, seasonal silhouette.
The combination of tassels and bangs, a vibrant nod to the Garçonne allure, immediately evokes the insolence of the Roaring Twenties. Art Deco prints play with eclectic visual effects through embroidery and the matching of straight and graphic lines. Imbued with the concept of “Less is more”, the designer offers an elegant collection, surprising in its simplicity, yet rich in shimmering, sparkling hues, for a fashion haute
en couleurs.
The 24-piece collection captures the essence of an era and ushers in the 21st century.
