Carven, a little fashion jewel whose collections each season are over-the-top in their originality and unmistakable in their work on prints, presented its men’s collection on the first day of menswear week.
Always in a very preppy/BCBG, and therefore Parisian, spirit, men at Carven remain faithful to the basics of clothing: ties and shirts are de rigueur, we go for the essentials at Carven and leave no room for the superfluous (or superficial).
The materials, far from being ostentatious, have the merit of being beautiful and well-worked: quilted on a down jacket, lining on a coat, it’s the practical spirit that dominates, not without a good dose of aestheticism and sophistication.
Blue is king at Carven, in every shade from midnight to sky blue.
Grey and black are of course present, often paired to highlight the silhouette or accompany layering.
Note the play on lengths (high socks/short trousers, in particular), which gives this collection a quirky feel, a signature of the Carven brand.
