Giant GAP and new American sensation Banana Republic, which set up shop a year ago on the Champs Elysées, shared a showroom for their respective press presentations.
First of all, by presenting a collaboration with Béatrix Potter celebrating the 110th anniversary of Peter Rabbit in the children’s collection, a range due for release in January. So, of course, we’re melting at the sight of the size of the clothes and the theme, which evokes everything that’s most endearing.
Gap Kids: denim, flowers and pastels for little girls and tartan, navy blue and turquoise for boys.
In the adult collections, navy inspiration is alive and well, and pastels are out! Especially when mixed with the corresponding fluorescents, a major spring-summer trend that we saw illustrated to perfection at Erdem, for example. Nevertheless, Gap’s cuts remain simple and unpretentious.
Banana Republic is a more sophisticated brand. Indeed, this brand is not aimed at the lambda city dweller, but rather at the discerning fashionista. With a capsule collection full of fresh colors and a Spring Summer 2013 collection of sublime prints (reminiscent of Marni), this is a mature collection not without a dose of joy and finesse.
