Christmas market at the Hotel Jules&Jim

In aid of heart surgery sponsorship, the Hotel Jules&Jim, a veritable cocoon nestled in the Marais district of Paris, has chosen to celebrate Christmas on the theme of sharing, with a special focus on children.

Now open to the public until December 24, from 5pm to 9:30pm, the Christmas market at the Jules & Jim hotel stands out for the values that motivate it. Indeed, its creator started with a simple but effective idea: before setting up the hotel last year, he was in charge of development at Mécénat Chirurgie Cardiaque, a humanitarian and charitable association whose aim is to raise funds for children suffering from heart malformations, with a view to operating on them later on. Hotel Jules&Jim’s founder wanted to bring stories together: his own, of course, but also those of acquaintances and friends who wanted to join the project.

The concept of the Christmas market at the Jules&Jim hotel is simple: a micro-Christmas market (micro is not an exaggeration, since it fits into a hut, built in one day by our dear Julien Verry and Guillaume Le Flour, and designed by Thomas Mandorla and Louis Aspar of Wood Tang) featuring quality products that fit perfectly into guests’ suitcases (and therefore take up very little space). It’s in this fairytale hut with a humanitarian purpose that the magic happens, and it’s also the material proof of the meeting of stories, which once again seems to be the leitmotiv of the event, beyond the charitable aspect.

The hotel has also been lucky enough to have the support of François Rousseau (photographer for Les Dieux du Stade, among others), who is exhibiting and selling 50 books of his photographs, as well as original prints of his photographs of athletes preparing for the 2012 Olympic Games. All sales will of course be donated to the cause. A tombola is also being organized to raise funds for a child’s operation (the target is €12,000).
