Anna Polina, muse of the DORCEL fashion house, will be the guest at the 4th edition of Pop Philosophy Week, which each year brings together philosophers, artists, journalists and sociologists to discuss the issues that shape our society. Alongside philosopher and writer Laurent de Sutter (Pornostars. Fragments d’une métaphysique du X, published by La Musardine in 2007), she will attempt to answer the questions raised by the mystery surrounding pornography and the profession of X-actress. Rendezvous at Marseille’s Trolley Bus on October 23 from 10pm.
The debate, entitled “The three bodies of Anna Polina”, will be structured as follows:
Who is Anna Polina? Or rather: what is Anna Polina? The new face of the Marc Dorcel studios embodies a mystery. This mystery is the essence of every actress. What is an actress? What does an actress do? What does an actress arouse? To understand this, only an X-rated starlet could help us. For it may well be that, from now on, it is the X starlet who constitutes the truth of every actress. Just as it could well be that she constitutes the truth of every image – in other words, of all our fantasies. Which truth? That of a meeting between three worlds – a meeting between three bodies: a body of flesh, a body of play and a body of dreams.
From October 22 to 27, Pop Philosophy Week will invite intellectuals from France and abroad to engage in philosophical reflection based on objects from pop and media culture. More than thirty speakers – philosophers, writers, sociologists and journalists – will examine themes as diverse and singular as pop fiction, pornography, Smurfs, drugs, loyalty cards and retro-futurism, as well as rap, bullfighting, celebrity, iPhilosophy, reality TV and vampires…
