CAMPANAS + LACOSTE – Polo Holiday Collector 2012

For its new “Holiday Collector” edition, Lacoste has entrusted the reinterpretation of its iconic polo shirt to the Campana brothers for the second time.

In 2003, while exploring new forms of upholstery, Fernando and Humberto Campana came up with the idea of assembling and rolling up different kinds of materials (fabrics, carpets, felt and rubber ribbons, flat or three-dimensional elements) to form colorful swirls and create numerous limited, numbered works.

At first, “Sushi” was used as a nickname, but it soon became the name of this collection, which includes chairs, sofas, tables, poufs, sideboards and many other objects. The mix of colors and textures in “Sushi” has become one of Campanas’ signatures.

The transposition of the tourbillons for this LACOSTE limited edition came naturally: the spiral arrangement of the crocodiles is a playful interpretation of Campanas sushi.

A different accumulation of crocodiles, but in the same spirit as the Holiday Collector Edition N°4 series from 2009. The women’s special edition features a polo shirt with 2 multicolored crocodile spirals on the left chest. The men’s special edition features a single spiral of black crocodiles on colored cotton pique, or white crocodiles on black cotton pique.

Available in stores from November 2012
