From October 18 to 22, 2012, Design Elysées presents its 3rd edition.

Since its launch in 2010, DESIGN ÉLYSÉES, the showcase for 20th-century furniture and design objects, has been a resounding success, taking up its place alongside the Grand Palais and joining the stream of the most eagerly-awaited Parisian events (FIAC, ART ELYSEES, SLICK, CUTLOG…) since 2011.
Design Élysées offers a cutting-edge selection of the major players in 20th-century design. It’s the place to be for purists, discerning collectors and nostalgic visitors in search of historic objects and furniture from the most innovative years that revolutionized our interiors.
With the collaboration of a selection committee, Design Élysées brings together over 6 days galleries exhibiting exceptional pieces of design from the 40s to the 70s. These galleries include : Artefact Design (Paris), Galerie Avril (Paris), Velvet Galerie (Paris), Imagine Galerie (Paris), Galerie Pascal Badié (Nice), Edouard Demachy (Paris), Galerie Martel-Greiner (Paris).

Velvet Galerie exhibition
For this third edition of Design Elysées, Velvet Galerie presents an installation based on utopian architecture and op art, directed by Marc Mineray of Galerie 47. The “sphere of isolation”, Edition les plastiques de Bourgogne.
Maurice-Claude Vidili, an architect by training, designed the Sphère d’isolement in 1971, seeking above all to create a highly private workspace, protected from any outside intervention. The spherical shape seemed the most appropriate, its structure preventing any sound from entering or leaving. It also has the advantage of appearing smaller than it is from the outside, giving a sense of space that is larger than it actually is inside.
