There’s a lot going on at Jaeger-LeCoultre this autumn. Jaeger-LeCoultre has inaugurated its new boutique on Place Vendôme and unveiled its new “Rendez-Vous” collection of women’s watches.
At 7 place Vendôme in Paris, the historic home of luxury houses, watchmaker Jaeger-LeCoultre welcomes us to its new 500 m² showcase. Under construction since late 2011, the boutique was officially opened on September 1, 2012, and fittingly inaugurated during Vogue Fashion Night Out.
Established since 2005 in the heart of Parisian luxury, the Manufacture has chosen this boutique to unveil its new design and scenography concept. While the French capital is the first example, and thus the brand’s flagship, other countries will welcome this new decoration for the pleasure of timepiece lovers the world over.
More than a boutique, it’s a showroom where you can discover the brand’s legendary movements. In the circular gallery on the mezzanine, the various crafts practiced at the Manufacture will be showcased: gem-setting, enameling, engraving, mastery of complication… The Manufacture, which will soon be celebrating its 180th anniversary, has created over 1,000 calibres, symbolizing its creative and diversified expertise.
In fact, on the ceiling of the entrance rotunda, visitors are greeted by a giant mechanism of one of the Manufacture’s “latest watchmaking inventions: the Duomètre Sphérotourbillon“.
The ambience of the boutique fully reflects the prestigious image of the Maison Jaeger-leCoultre: noble materials (oak parquet flooring, known as “Versailles”), sober colors (white, grey, black, beige), all illuminated by soft, warm lighting, giving the watches the sparkle needed to appreciate their refinement.
And speaking of watches and refinement, we couldn’t miss the opportunity to delight in the new women’s collection: Rendez-Vous. Jaeger-LeCoultre, sensitive to feminine elegance and exception, has created these models just for them, for us, and for her. She is the actress Diane Kruger, who becomes the face of “Rendez-vous”. For this superb, distinguished woman, a watch that sublimates the wrist.
This smooth, round model brings together the best of the fine watchmaking expertise reinvented since 1833 by Jaeger-LeCoultre. A refined Art-Deco style with Arabic numerals, a dial in mother-of-pearl marquetry, set with diamonds in its all-rose gold, all-steel, steel or gold versions, and a leather strap: we’ll melt for this masterpiece of delicacy and sophistication.
The Rendez-Vous is more than a wristwatch, a veritable jewel ready to magnify our senses. In its 29-, 34- and 36-millimeter-diameter versions, it features an automatic movement with power reserve. The“Night&Day” version, with its day/night indicator, can be viewed through the sapphire-backed case.
Few manufacturers dedicate entire collections to women, since watches are above all one of the few luxury “accessories” that men can acquire. However, Jaeger-LeCoultre has pulled off a major coup with the launch of its new “Rendez-Vous” range. A renewal that was eagerly awaited, since, apart from the famous Reverso in its many shapes, materials and colors, the company didn’t offer many choices for women.
This contemporary line will delight more than one woman’s wrist, and I personally hope that the precious models (whose dials are set with sixty diamonds) will soon give way to a “simple” steel version, for more urban wear.
