It was at Showcase that Julien Fournié to present his new Haute Couture collection, Première Déclaration. The fashion designer, known for his eccentricity, has cut his teeth working with such fashion greats as Nina Ricci, Diorand Jean Paul Gaultierwho hired him as assistant Haute Couture designer. For this new collection, the designer plays with references and experiments with technical materials. As soon as the first models arrive, we feel as if we’ve stepped into the world of Sci-Fi. Like heroines of fantasy films, they sport futuristic ponytails, metallic illumination, neoprene, fluo, zippers, body-hugging dresses and pencil skirts, but also XXL coats with seal inlays, which caused a bit of a stir. The designer makes no secret of the fact: he admits to drawing his inspiration from the world of Marvel comics, in particular X men, a film with which he draws a parallel with the world of fashion: according to him, the costumes worn by the characters are “extremely stylized and refined”. He depicts a modern, avant-garde, feminine woman: enough to delight today’s retro-futuristic fashion world.

Julien Fournié comes out to greet the crowd, and the parade with its comic-book connotations comes to an end.
