Alexis Mabille turns women into “jewels of desire

On Monday, Alexis Mabille presented his Fall-Winter 2012-2013 Haute Couture collection at the romantic Shangri-La Hotel.

Evening gowns, heavy fabrics, tails, embroidery, rhinestones: this winter, women become queens! Half muse, half emancipated woman, the noble materials of the designer’s outfits give the wearer a regal, even aristocratic allure. Alexis Mabille is not one of those designers who advocates androgyny. For him, clothing must sublimate the body, whether it’s lean or generous!

Even more surprising were the hairstyles of the models: high, rigid ponytails adorned with jewels and signed by the fashion house, with the inevitable bow tie. Held in weightlessness, these futuristic hairstyles contrast with the bourgeois style of the outfits.

It’s often said that diamonds are a woman’s best friend, and Alexis Mabille would agree! His years working alongside Hedi Slimane at Dior have shaped him. Although he no longer designs jewelry for Dior Homme, the designer is interested in the special bond between women and jewelry. “Some women become jewels of desire”. Alexis Mabille doesn’t dress women: he adorns them!
