Interview with Didier Papaz, Optic 2000 CEO

Tell us about the 4-year collaboration between the Tour Auto and Optic 2000.
DP: Optic2000 is a network of committed professionals involved in prevention, particularly in driving, because to drive well you need to see well.
It seemed natural to us to join forces with the Tour Auto, a prestigious motoring event. This partnership has several aspects:
Prevention, by going out to meet the public with the Optic2000 villages, which offer activities for the youngest
Prestige, with the presence of exceptional cars maintained by enthusiasts.
The passions finally come together between car enthusiasts and opticians who are passionate about their profession. It was only logical that we should do something about it. Every year, we bring together a line-up of even more exceptional cars.
Tell us about your passion for cars. Do you have any cars you’d like to show us?
DP: I share my passion for cars with a lot of French people. When we pass through Tour Auto towns, there are lots of people taking photos and waving at us. It’s a popular thing to do. We all have an emotional bond with cars. For me, it’s Aston Martin with the DB5 and DB7, which are very beautiful cars. That said, I was at the race today with a Ferrari 308 GT4, which is also a beautiful car made in the 70s.
What’s new at Optic2000?
DP: We have set up a process to demonstrate our professionalism. We want the 1,200 stores in the Optic2000 network to be approved by AFNOR. We have co-signed an AFNOR standard so that a customer received in Paris, Lille or Marseille will be received in the same way, with the same protocols. In addition, we are committed to two actions:
-The first: we are partners of the Telethon, and have pledged to donate substantial sums to the fight against rare diseases, particularly those linked to vision.
-We are also committed to defending jobs in France, as our glasses and lenses are produced in France. Our ModeinFrance frames are made entirely in France.
