Journey to the heart of the Paris Première Press Review

Last Monday, the day after the first round of the presidential elections, we were invited to attend the Revue de Presse on the Paris Première channel. The show is being taped at the Théâtre de Paris, and exceptionally, it’s live.
There are around a hundred seats in the auditorium, and they’re almost all full when we arrive. Then comes the chauffeur de salle, “the director needs to record some applause” (of course!). We’re happy to oblige. My neighbor in the back exclaims “Ah yes, they asked us the same thing at the BigDil”. The show is already in the room.
8.40pm, the show can begin. Hosted by Jérôme de Verdière, the Revue de Presse featured a crack team: Jacques Mailhot, Bernard Mabille and Régis Mailhot, all of whom were excellent that evening. The show also featured a succession of columnists: Didier Porte, Thierry Rocher and Florence Brunold. Hats off to Michel Guidoni, who did a perfect Nicolas Sarkozy imitation. The team debriefed the previous evening’s election. The texts are well written. Lots of laughs. No candidate was spared. Jacques Cheminade was obviously one of the favorite targets, along with Eva Joly.
A host of guests appeared on the show, including André Bercoff, CSA member Christine Kelly, Albert Algoud, Patrick Pelloux, Patrice Carmouze, Eric Naulleau and Pierre Menès. The latter didn’t fail to tease Jérôme de Verdière.
We didn’t hold back our pleasure, and in the end, we had an excellent evening.
Watched by 320,000 viewers that evening, the show was a hit with the public. See you in Round 2.
