COMICS SELECTION

Thanks to film adaptations, superheroes are now the talk of the town.
If you’re a fan or just want to go back to the source, here’s a selection of the best comics of the moment, featuring the 2 “Wolverine Black Cat” mini-series (published in the USA in 2006 and 2011) collected in the new album “Coups de Griffes” (“100% Marvel” – Panini Comics).
For the first time, the Canadian mutant and famous member of the “X-Men” and the ex-girlfriend of “Spider-Man” are reunited by screenwriting duo Jimmy Palmiotti-Justin Gray and artist Joseph Michael Linsner. We first discover them captured and the victims of a manhunt orchestrated by Arcade (son of an American oil king). Then they’re teleported to a parallel world, in which our planet has been attacked by particularly bloodthirsty aliens! Non-stop action, suspense and sexy humor are the order of the day in these adventures of an unlikely duo that actually works quite well. In short, if you want to relax, this album is simply a must-have, and Z-series fans are in for a treat! (Sensitive souls please).
In parallel, don’t miss “Kirby Genesis” (“100% Fusion Comics”), the rebirth of the universe created by legendary cartoonist Jack Kirby, thanks to the combined efforts of Kurt Busiek, Jack Herbert and Alex Ross. An extraordinary intergalactic adventure that will allow you to discover a highly original comic-book.
In addition, the new format of “Star Wars The Clone Wars” magazine is on newsstands (“Delcourt Comics”) and the end of the “FlashPoint” saga is scheduled for the end of April (“Urban Comics”) before the relaunch of the “DC” universe next May.
On the DVD front, the big event is obviously the release of “The Artist” (Warner Home Video), a truly exciting French film. On this subject, it’s worth noting that Marvel offered the “Nuff Said” event in May 2002, specifically all comics in silent version. Amazing Spider-Man n°39, starring Tante May, was particularly successful.
Finally, don’t miss season 4 of “Chuck”, the craziest TV series of the moment, on “NT1” every Saturday night.
