With Éclats de chantier, painter and photographer Corinne Dauger continues her quest for desire. Inspired by a year of reportage on the world’s largest construction sites, she presents a series of silver paintings and photographic prints in the studio of Michelin-starred chef Guy Martin, sublimating the material and offering another vision of the construction site. Lyrical and poetic.
The framework of desire. Iron stairs. Orange overalls. Yellow helmets. Massive scaffolding.
And the tenderness of Corinne Dauger’s view of the harshness of an essentially masculine world. The artist detects materials, colors and structures, extracting them to create compositions structured by well-defined lines and spaces. Figurative, often abstract, these works echo both the ceaseless human ambition to build and the solitude of men, or even their absence. I’m fascinated by large-scale construction sites,” explains Corinne Dauger. From chaos, I seek to build harmony, from raw material, balanced and refined constructions. Her prints on Christophe silver plates, which demonstrate the delicacy of her line, capture this paradox particularly well.
Gender friction. Corinne Dauger’s paintings are remembered for their long-legged silhouettes, lonely strangers lost in the city light. Heroines inspired by the film noirs of the 50s, whispering about

the artist manages to confront her approach, built around the themes of femininity and architecture, with the harshness of a masculine world. The result is sensual works that sublimate the material and question desire. Awaken it?
The icing on the cake. So as not to be left wanting, the exhibition Eclats de Chantiers leads straight into the kitchen, where the chefs from Atelier Guy Martin prepare an “on the go” lunch. Away with the canteen and the hard hats! This is the icing on the cake. Ganache, green tea shortbread, custard, and the smile of Blandine F, the chef for the day.
An invitation to a journey of the senses, flavors and emotions. Until April 10, 2012.
