ANDREA - BY THIS RIVER

By This River (ft. Julia Losfelt)

1 – Parisian, Parisian?

Andrea / I lived a lot in Eastern Europe when I was younger, and I’ve been living entirely in Paris for some time now.

2 – Well, we’ve listened to everything on your first EP “Sky Decisions”, so what do you have in store for us today with this new track (editor’s note: “By This River”)?

Andrea / With this new track, I’m trying to broaden my horizons. “Sky Decisions” was a very sunny EP, and I tried to do something accessible despite the style, which isn’t very widespread. Today, it’s something slower, darker, but still in a very airy vein.

3 – If you were to put a bit of yourself into this last title…?

Andrea / I think I played a lot with all the textures that are dear to me in this track, while keeping a strong organic side, especially in the rhythmics and leads.

4 – Brian Eno, okay, but who exactly is he to you?

Andrea / I wouldn’t go so far as to say I’m an undisputed Brian Eno fan, but he played a big part in my discovery of so-called electronic music as a child. He’s an icon in this field, and this track was very close to my heart.

5 – First of all, how do you move on “By This River”?

Andrea / I think we move from the inside out.

6 – What surprises do you have in store for us next?

Andrea / I’m currently working on a more danceable EP, I’ve got a few remixes coming out here and there, projects with Emay, a Canadian rapper, and a few exclusive tracks coming out in the next few weeks/months.

7 – What’s a typical day like for Andrea?

Andrea / It’s a balancing act between my job as a graphic designer, lots and lots of music, and half a ton of side projects.

8 – What are your plans for December 31st?

Andrea / Don’t remind me of anything, just like everyone else!

9 – When you close your eyes, what do you see for 2012?

Andrea / I see hyperactivity, lots of concerts, projects and, hopefully, a bit of recognition!

Thank you,

Elisa Palmer
