Marc-Arthur…

(to listen to Les Chansons Rigolotes, Le Trip Kainri, Paris en Août, Les Mots…)

1/ Where did we meet again?

We met at Jeannette’s… Winter 2010-2011. I’d say around January/February. There were 4 of you, I think… I approached you, telling you about my skateboard, telling you not to steal it from me, and some asshole gave me a hard time because it’s a style of skateboarding with a particular name that I didn’t know… And then I sat down at your table and followed your girl talk (debriefing) for an hour! It was fun.

The story in pictures :

Chez Jeannette

LE Skateboard

Bla bla bla...

2/ Are you Marc-Arthur, MAC, Macouze? (Sorry, but it’s a bit confusing)…

It’s Marc-Arthur!!! (Mac is for friends)… And Marc-Arthur is my first name… For the record, my parents couldn’t decide between the two, so my grandfather told them not to choose, but to make it a compound name…

3/ What are you doing with your life? Where do you live? Where can you be found in the morning? Where at night? Who are your friends?

I’m at HEC, in my final year, Master’s in Marketing. I used to do History. I live in the 12th arrondissement, and in the morning, you’ll find me in Jouy-en-Josas… In the evening, at Jeannette’s, at Le Mansart, at La Fusée… At last, on the right bank! And my buddies are my high school buddies, who are like my family. We’re a gang of 25 and we all manage to see each other about 3 times a week! We love each other!!!

Where to buy him a beer:
Chez Jeannette : 47 Rue du Faubourg Saint-Denis 75010 Paris
Au Mansart : 1 Rue Mansart 75009 Paris
A la Fusée : 168 Rue St Martin 75003 Paris

4/ Do you say you make French chanson, or is it more complicated than that?

I say I do French chanson…

5/ Your musical inspirations?

Mano Solo/Django Reinhardt/Brel

Mano Solo

Django Reinhardt

Jacques Brel

6/ Who would you least like your music to be associated with?

Christophe Maé (Thomas Dutronc… I don’t mind, even if I’m not a huge fan, but it does look a bit similar).

Christophe Maé

Thomas Dutronc

7/ Where did the waitress on rue St Martin go?

The waitress on Rue Saint Martin is still a waitress… But if that’s the song you’re talking about, I’ll post it mid/end of next week.

8/ Yes, you write, but where and how?

I write… I don’t really know. In bed, and mostly when I’m travelling (I love trains and planes for writing). In fact, I write very, very little… And sometimes it just comes out. Otherwise, I find chords I like, and then I start singing… I think the ideas are good, so I use that as a basis. Or sometimes, I have a phrase that comes out on its own in the street, in the car, and I put it aside to see if I can build around it… I also wrote a lot in class, in high school, in prep school, when I was bored, to pass the time.

9/ Do you think you’re a great guy?

I’m a great guy??? Well, yes and no! Yes, because you always have to have confidence in yourself to carry out a project. And at the same time, I have doubts every day… Anyway, I don’t really know where you’re going with this.

Marc-Arthur

Of course, we think he’s a pretty great guy.
