According to a study by The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), the French capital is ranked fourth among tourists’ favorite cities for shopping. The study, an initiative of Global Blue, shows that Paris is very popular with foreigners, although ahead of London, Madrid and Barcelona.
On Wednesday, November 16, 2011, Global Blue made its results public thanks to the “Globe Shopper City Index”, a tool developed by the EIU to measure the shopping attractiveness of 33 European cities.
The selection, made according to 38 different criteria divided into 5 indicator categories: stores, price level, quality of service, hotels and transport as well as culture and climate.
Why didn’t Paris make the Top 3? Prices that are too high compared to other metropolises, and often a lack of available rooms in the capital’s hotels.
However, these low points are made up for by the capital’s generous climate and the multitude of cultural activities on offer. In fact, Paris comes first in the culture and climate category.
The tool developed during this study has been opened to the public to enable tourists to find the city best suited to their way of shopping, go to Building on this study, EIU and Global Blue have developed a tool enabling tourists to find the shopping city best suited to their needs.
