Launch of the Winamax Poker Tour at the Grande Halle de la Villette

The weekend of November 5 and 6 saw the biggest live poker tournament ever held in France. It marked the kick-off of the Winamax Poker Tour, with 69 stops throughout the country until March 2012, and a grand finale scheduled for April. At the end of the epic journey: the title of French champion and an estimated prize of 500,000 euros. Grand organizer of the event: Patrick Bruel, passionate poker player and Winamax figurehead. Clearly delighted to have organized this unique event.
A great privilege: I was one of 2,000 lucky participants in the tournament. To qualify, you had to go through several rounds on the Internet. As a novice player, I really discovered a whole new world. The players really belong to a community with its own codes and rituals. Many players wear dark glasses or earphones. Many players also wear their team colors. Among the tables, several celebrities. Actress Alice Taglioni is taking part in the tournament. In the bays of the Halle, Bernard de la Villardière tapes an edition of Enquête Exclusive. Masseuses offer their services to players at the end of their tether. Eliminated after 5 hours of tournament play, I had many adrenaline rushes and big scares. Around the 10-player table, the exchanges multiplied and the human aspect was truly astonishing. All in all, a great experience that I’d recommend to anyone!
