Inspired by Chinese tradition, Shiatzy Chen tells us her story, that of a designer who breaks free from the bonds of influences to create her own style.
The Spring/Summer 2012 collection is influenced by exquisite Chinese craftsmanship and the culture of the snuff bottle. The collection combines shiny, translucent organiza with satin to interpret the sculpted glass snuff bottle with different levels of color. Shimmering patterns create a modernity through a super position of vintage lace and airy fabrics, exhibiting the luminous quality of the porcelain and glass snuff bottle. The use of jacquard patterns and prints is evocative of the meticulously-painted flasks.
The collection borrows references to the West, including 60s icons such as Jacqueline Kennedy and Audrey Hepburn, simplified geometric silhouettes and elegant three-quarter-sleeve suits with oversized buttons. Embroidery adorned with pearls, coral and colorful Swarowski crystals.
A successful blend of East and West.
