The most English of French designers, hair expert Charlie le Mindu, presented a collection in Paris for the first time as part of On/Off: un événement. The show lived up to the hype, taking us on an extraordinary, madcap, creative journey into the world of a thousand and one nights. It all began when a dancer from Crazy Horse stepped forward, naked and dressed in a simple jewel of skin, electrifying a stunned audience with an oriental dance. What followed was an explosion of hair and creativity that made us forget the very existence of conventional fashion just a stone’s throw away. Asymmetrical dresses, black vinyl, jumpsuits, real-hair thongs, wigs, Plexiglas, leather – anything goes, even the arrival of Rossy de Palma to round off this extraordinary show.
