Ballantine’s welcomes us into its lair

Last Thursday evening, two eminent members of the Luxsure editorial team were invited to the Ballantine’s 12 years party, to celebrate the presentation of a new prestige end-of-year boxed set. The venue chosen to present this delicate nectar was very underground: La Culée. Located under the Alexandre III bridge, this truly mysterious and unusual place welcomed a few dozen privileged guests. We caught a glimpse of worldly columnist Alexandre Maras and hip Harvey Ambomo.
It was also an opportunity for us to try Ballantine’s cocktails (Green Splash, Bloody Ballantine’s and Pear Velvet). A truly successful pairing! The main purpose of the evening was to present the new Coffret Prestige Ballantine’s 12 ans. Following on from Ballantine’s previous artistic initiatives, and always with the idea of imagining new ways of consuming and serving whisky, this year the brand teamed up with a young Master Glassmaker, Vincent Breed. Inspired by the Master Blender’s art of blending, he has designed straight glasses, broken by a notch, to fit harmoniously around the bottle. Taking the concept a step further, Vincent Breed also worked on the bottoms of the glasses. Each glass bears the imprint of a barrel, finished in silver leaf. In keeping with the “Leave your mark” advertising campaign, a glass-blowing demonstration was held that evening. A true objet d’art, each glass is unique. The set price (500€) reflects the quality of this product.
The set will be on sale at La Grande Epicerie, Fauchon and Lavinia from November.
