In his “Voyage autour de ma chambre”, Xavier de Maistre says: “The pleasure one finds in traveling in one’s room is safe from the restless jealousy of men; it is independent of fortune.- No obstacle will be able to stop us; and, cheerfully giving ourselves over to our imagination, we will follow it wherever it pleases to lead us.”
In my work, I try to highlight the feeling of an elsewhere, where the true is no longer differentiated from the false, and where deceptive appearances awaken our desire for the imaginary. Time seems to have taken shape in frozen, enchanted landscapes, from which emanates an atmosphere that is both unreal and melancholy… For me, photography is “being in the body somewhere and elsewhere through thought”. This questioning of the notion of the mental image is recurrent in my work. A look at everyday life that becomes an elsewhere.
