Manufacture Jaeger-LeCoultre presents a unique Reverso, born of its meeting with Zep, the famous comic strip artist from “Titeuf”.

In honor of the 80th Anniversary of the Reverso, an iconic model from the Grande Maison duSentier, Zep has customized an enamel dial of a pink gold Reverso à éclipse. This artistic execution will be unique. Zep, a renowned Swiss artist, was inspired by his visit to the Manufacture last April. Enameling, like engraving, is one of the rare crafts jealously guarded by the Manufacture Jaeger-LeCoultre. Today, an enameling workshop located within the walls of the Manufacture employs three people. They offer a wide range of customization options for Reverso watches, but also for enamel dials. These artists create one-of-a-kind timepieces that showcase a know-how combining tradition and inventiveness, developing new techniques that are revealed each year in the new collections.

The unique Reverso, designed by Zep, in enamel and pink gold will be auctioned by the auction house, Artcurial, on November 29, 2011 in Paris for the benefit of the charity “Association monégasque contre les Myopathies”.
A long time ago, in 1931, amidst a swirl of dust and the pounding of horses’ hooves, an idea was born: a watch whose dial could be protected from shocks, while offering a personalized engraved caseback. 80 years later, the Reverso, the world’s only true polo watch, has gone from watchmaking icon to cult. It is a privilege for the brand to preview this creation at the Veytay Polo Club during the final of the Jaeger-LeCoultre Polo Masters Geneva.

“I’ve always been fascinated by the miniaturization and aesthetics of mechanical movements. The idea of slipping Titeuf inside a Reverso and its intricate, subtle workings seemed obvious to me. It’s also reminiscent of the image of Charlot from Modern Times.
I hope my character won’t get in the way of the legendary precision of his Reverso…” Zep
