The summer edition of The Brandery closed its 5th edition on July 15, and we were there to cover every inch of it for you.

The show organized 168 meetings between exhibiting brands and 13 groups of buyers. The Brandtown, a new area open to the public, welcomed numerous music and fashion enthusiasts, who enjoyed the fashion shows and concert program.

Custo Barcelona, Esprit, Zu Elements and Superdry were among the 39 brands to unveil their collections on the catwalk. The catwalk program ended with the Barcelona International Fashion Show. This event featured over 60 looks from international fashion brands
such as Stella McCartney, Vivienne Westwood, Blumarine, Iceberg, Alberta Ferretti, Moschino, Frankie Morello, Roberto Cavalli and
Parah.

This year’s edition featured 145 brands, 47% of them international, most of them from Italy (18%) and France (14%). Some new brands took part in this edition of The Brandery: Esprit, Nacked, Ape, Zu Elements, Superdry, Amy Gee and Freddy The Club, among many others.

Miquel Serrano, Director of The Brandery, comments: “The success of our speed dating events and the general satisfaction of our exhibitors show that The Brandery has consolidated its position as an established fashion reference in Spain and Southern Europe. Edition after edition, we have noted an increase in the quality of visitors, which creates important business opportunities for our exhibitors”. The show welcomed some
15,500 professionals.

Miquel Serrano gave a positive assessment of the new public area: “The concerts by Sónar (Advanced Music) and BSO 80in! as well as the fashion shows attracted the attention of a younger audience. The brands expressed their satisfaction, as this initiative enabled them to meet their end customers, to whom they could directly convey their values”.

In a difficult economic climate, the show wanted to support brands by inviting distributors and high-potential buyers to come and meet the exhibiting brands during short “speed dating” meetings. Thanks to this dynamic format, 168 meetings were organized between nearly 50 brands and 13 groups of buyers from Serbia, Russia, Germany, Mexico and the United States. Some brands, such as El Corte Inglès, Peek & Cloppenburg and the Russian chain Be Fashion, signed major contracts.

The next edition of The Brandery will take place between January 25 and 27, 2010, for the presentation of the Autumn/Winter 2013 collections.
