From June 11 onwards, the Hôtel-Dieu in Le Puy-en-Velay, in partnership with the Louvre Museum, presents the exhibition “Regards sur Marie”. The theme was dictated by the site itself, on the side of the cathedral, which used to welcome the sick and pilgrims who came to pay homage to the Black Madonna. Some twenty works from the Louvre are displayed alongside exceptional loans from other institutions, including Beaubourg, the Musée Bourdelle and the Musée d’Orsay, as well as a number of masterpieces, sometimes little-known or rarely seen, preserved in the churches of the Haute-Loire region. Through this necessarily arbitrary selection of some sixty paintings, sculptures and objects, various “views” will be cast on the figure of the Virgin, from the 4th century to photography, from the East to the West, through masterpieces by Titian, La Tour, Ingres, Manessier, Lurçat, Lipchitz…

Opening Friday, June 10, 11:00 a.m.
