Let’s take a Maine beekeeper, a hitchhiker and a log, and transport them to 1984…I can feel your curiosity piquing! “What unexpected cocktail could possibly result from this encounter?” you ask.
Here’s the answer! We’re talking about “Burt’s Bees”, a brand of 95% natural beauty products that arrived in France a few months ago.
For the record, it was on one of her travels that Roxanne Quimby met Burt Shavitz, a beekeeper by trade. A firm believer in the benefits of honey and nature, she was intrigued by Burt’s story and launched a candle-based business.
It was a huge success, and the two then logically decided to join forces to discover how the fabulous qualities of honey and Royal Jelly (the Queen Bee’s secret to longevity, no less) could be used to enhance women’s natural beauty. And so, in 1991, their very first lip balm was born, still a cult favorite 20 years on.
Today, the little bee has taken off to become one of America’s favorite brands, with its body milks, scrubs and moisturizers.
This season, Burt’s little workers will also be foraging for fruit, as the brand offers a deliciously gourmand summer range. On the menu for your skin: coconut, lemon, pomegranate, almond, peppermint…
Mouth-watering scents with a promise of softness, to pamper yourself while respecting Mother Nature. All summer long!
