The small phrase on the invitation “with the presence of an emblematic figure of Rock” leads to all kinds of speculation: Jean Louis Aubert, Louis Bertignac, Catherine Ringer or Dick Rivers, says my pal Tristan H, the funniest press officer in Paris. But no! The buzz quickly died down when we learned that the big rock star of the evening was in fact … Philippe Manœuvre, editor-in-chief of Rock and Folk magazine.
On this Monday at the Bataclan, a legendary rock venue, the evening is taking place in a good-natured atmosphere, with the Hot Dog stand taken by storm. Champagne flowed freely and young girls in perfectos strolled around the room, where small round tables had been laid out like in a cabaret. At the end, we were treated to a series of covers sung by Lucie, a contestant on the French TV talent show, La Nouvelle Star. The tattooed girl performed a tour de chanson covering rock classics with a certain energy that failed to get the audience on their feet. From Elvis Presley to Deep Purple and Queen, the whole of rock history was on display. On our way out, we finally discover the Azzaro men’s fragrance Décibel. The bottle is rather original, in the shape of a microphone. The first impression is of raw scents made for virile men. This product sounds more like hard rock than sweet melody.
