The presence of Kitten on the Keys, heroine of Matthieu Almaric’s Cannes award-winning film “Tournée”, heralds a burlesque and offbeat selection. The gamble paid off. Indeed, the independent label Pschent, already behind the highly successful “Hôtel Costes” compilations, delivers an exciting pop musical package. Nicolas Beauvais and Nicolas Sorel, hosts of the “Nico en stéréo” evenings, conceived this selection as an extension of the parties organized on the rue Mazarine.
From the very first track, Vanessa Contenay plunges us into a delightfully retro Tropezian universe. The electro remix of Amadou & Mariam’s “Sabali” is also a great success. The compilation also features the excellent French pop group Gush and Yaël Naim. Fran & Josh deliver a tropical, festive sound with infectious virtues. The only downside is The Ghost of Saber Tooth’s disappointing cover of Serge Gainsbourg’s “Comic Strip”. The compilation closes with a track by Kitten on the Keys that plunges us into a Wild West saloon atmosphere. In short, a chic, mischievous and sexy musical selection in the image of the Saint Germain-des-Prés club.
Enjoy it quickly!
