A Grand Bal Costumé will be held at Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte on Saturday, May 21, 2011: a first edition celebrating the 350th anniversary of this 17th century masterpiece, three and a half centuries after the sumptuous party given by Nicolas Fouquet on August 17, 1661.
This magical evening will be like a journey back in time to the splendor and splendor of the Art de Vivre à la Française, of which Fouquet was the brilliant precursor at Vaux. Dinner will be served on the terrace of the West Communs, with a breathtaking view of the château, overlooking the
French-style gardens illuminated by thousands of candles: an atmosphere full of charm and exception.
Guests will then cross the Cour d’Honneur to the Grand Salon, a reception room unique in the history of French architecture. The opening of the Ball will be choreographed by dancers and musicians from the Compagnie “Fêtes Baroques”, featuring period dances to the sound of violins and harpsichord. After an introduction to the basics of 17th-century dancing, Jean Croc, DJ and Radio Nova presenter, will set the scene with a contemporary musical ambience.
At around 1am, the statue of Hercules at rest will be the setting for a grand fireworks display set to music by its creator, Pierre-Emmanuel Gelis.
