Stéphane Rolland – Haute-couture spring/summer 2011

The Stéphane Rolland shows are among the haute-couture fashion week shows we never miss, partly because he’s one of the most refined couturiers in Paris, but above all because his very French style is more grandiose every year, which didn’t escape the eye of Mireille Matthieu, who obviously really appreciated this show.

Stéphane Rolland’s spring/summer 2011 fashion week show was all about spirituality, with spicy colors reminiscent of India and Tibet. While the Parisian couturier’s famous evening gowns were, as usual, breathtakingly long, his savoir-faire – always imbued with breathtaking line and cut – became warmer, while remaining delicate.

For this collection, Stéphane Rolland made extensive use of blown glass, with belt buckles inspired by Edward Weston’s abstract photographs. Last but not least, gold – which seems to have inspired Stéphane Rolland a great deal of late – is present in small touches, skilfully blending with flowing white dresses, before finishing with a stunning copper-toned dress/suit featuring a beautiful glass piece, adorned with diamonds forming a solar figure.
