AF Vandevorst is at it again, teaming up with Belgian lingerie manufacturer Marie Jo L’Aventure.
Dynamic, trendy and graphic, Marie Jo L’Aventure embodies sleek, designer lingerie. To accentuate this aspect, the brand is launching a series of collaborations this winter. Each year, the brand will invite designers and artists from all horizons. From visual art and photography to product design, dance and music, art takes over lingerie.
Belgian design duo AF Vandevorst will inaugurate this series of creative collaborations. The association of these two worlds is no accident. Both brands offer clean, uncluttered, urban cuts, but above all, the same sense of perfectionism and comfort. The two labels form a pairing which, though ephemeral, is proving to be one of the strongest and sharpest.
Marie Jo L’Aventure by AF Vandevorst is a series inspired by a single piece. Designers and artists are asked to represent what they see as the lingerie of tomorrow. With this in mind, the Antwerp duo are given carte blanche.
An Vandevorst and Filip Atricks have created three wooden busts dressed in felt bustiers. What makes them special is that they are modular pieces. Pieces can be removed and added as in a three-dimensional jigsaw puzzle. What’s most astonishing is the absence of seams, with each element held together by copper pins. Not a clichéd, sexy object, but a creation reflecting an artisanal aspect.

These pieces will travel across Europe and be exhibited in various Marie Jo L’Aventure sales outlets. The tour will start in Antwerp, of course, and will take in Brussels, Munich, Copenhagen and finally Amsterdam. Once their travels are over, the three busts will return to Antwerp and will be on display at the MOMU (Belgian Fashion Museum) from December 7 to 19, 2010.
With this unique piece, the manufacturer wishes to support the fight against breast cancer. The lingerie brand will sell this unique piece at the “Bernaerts Veilingen” auction house in aid of the Pink Ribbon foundation.
From this most inspiring base, the lingerie brand’s designers, in consultation with the designer duo, reinterpret the unique piece. Don’t worry, the products sold won’t be made of felt.
The designers create a trompe l’oeil by opting for a very soft material with natural prints reminiscent of felt. Forget the pins and opt for copper-plated studs for that artisanal touch.
Flesh- or charcoal-colored, with a play of straps, transparency and opacity, this exceptional collection is a concentrate of sensuality, softness and comfort.
Its strong point is its game of hide-and-seek. Lingerie for classic wear or discreet display. Our star model, a bustier paired with a transparent tulle bodysuit, can be worn as an outer garment.
The collection is available from September in lingerie stores.
With AF Vandevorst, Marie Jo l’Aventure offers us its first successful creative partnership, revealing a vision of tomorrow’s lingerie design with an artisanal spirit. We look forward to future collaborations.
