Thursday, May 27, 2010 – Paris (IDF)
Courrier International was pleased to publish a special issue in April on the trends (society, fashion, design, cuisine) spotted in the international press, which will be in vogue in 2011.
Indeed, the magazine, which costs only 4,50 €, proposes to you to apprehend, through its pages, the 100 impulses/orientations, which will enable you to be really of the part in a few months…
Now you’re thinking: either this girl is completely has-been, or she’s so in that she’s having fun checking off every trend with a “this is done”. (And, people who know me will probably be close to the truth).
The question on everyone’s mind: “So, what are the trends for 2011?
Let’s first learn that there are three categories: “SLOW” trends, “PAUSE” trends, and “FAST” trends.
This requires some explanations…
Are the “SLOW” trends a praise of slowness? Not at all, my friends. The “SLOW” trends, in a way, advocate a return to simple things. (Those who have had the chance to read Ravage by Barjavel may already have an idea of what the picture looks like, but don’t worry, it’s not as bad as you think…). For 2011, it will be necessary to “think sustainable”, “meet real people”, and wage war on “what is artificial”.
Among the 35 proposed to be “SLOW-IN”, I have selected for you:
-
Drinking wine without alcohol (1) (I still have some doubts.)
-
Distribute your own film (4)
-
Flirting in literary salons (6)
-
Disconnect for a day (12) (Goodbye laptop, Blackberry, iPhone, iPad, email, Facebook query, … for 24 hours).
-
Wear recycled tire shoes (15)
-
Making art blindfolded (18) (Blindfolded, make art without seeing it.)
-
Becoming a homemaker (22)
-
Frimer at the wheel of a Trabant (27) (Editor’s note: The Trabant is an old model of car manufactured in East Germany.)
-
Build your student’s room out of cardboard (28)
-
Living a romance in photos (29) (Social problems and love stories are now solved in photo novels.)
-
Give back to country music its rebellious airs (33).
Now the “PAUSE” trends… Being in off-trend mode, what is it? “Suspending movement”, “finding a sense of escape”, working in a Zen office in Tokyo”, “breaking boundaries”, “living under water”…
Among the 21 break offers, I have selected for you :
-
All in transparency (37) (Clothes, bags, shoes in plexiglas, polyurethane, plastic…)
-
Eating a Savoyard fondue in Bangkok (39)
-
To pass for a “bromosexual” (40) (Editor’s note: A bromosexual is a homosexual who claims a certain sobriety in his look and attitude).
-
Laughing at everything, even the Polish (43) (cf.: The Popolski-Show.)
-
Ethical parade (44)
-
Drinking an overpriced caipirinha (45)
-
Evaluating your boss is a win-win situation! (50)
-
Add a pinch of light to your dishes (51) (Porcelain that lights up when it comes into contact with food.)
-
Drinking Bolivian coca (54)
-
Boxer in Jakarta (55)
-
A skyscraper in the sea (57) (see: The Water-Scraper.).
To finish, to be at the top of the 2011 trend, you have to keep one foot in the FAST. FAST, more than FURIOUS, these trends will continue to emphasize immediacy, versatility, “Here and there, everywhere at the same time”… Namely, “having the world at your fingertips”, “getting married and divorced in the moment”, “preferring the virtual to the real”…
Among them, in the midst of these desires to no longer make real choices, these whims in the form of “I want everything, right now”, and through this Space-Time that has become free and open, I would like to put my finger on some of these tendencies (43).
-
Surfing incognito on the web (58) (see Chatroulette.)
-
A marriage without paperwork and without value (60)
-
Get a lip job (76) (By “sex designers”.)
-
Make your dog tweet (69)
-
Tracking your food (72) (Using a cell phone.)
-
Chasing bad smells (75) (Thanks to deodorant cannons…)
-
Sell yourself to buy (76)
-
Creating transportable buildings (78) (see the work of Wojciech Kakowski, Marcin Mostafa and Natalia Paskowska at the Shanghai World Expo)
-
Divorcing faster than your shadow (80)
-
Undressing virtual girls (83)
-
Taking classes before getting married (87)
-
Reinventing punctuation (88)
-
Being fooled by a cyber animal (99) (cf. Brian Wolslegel and his US company in Wisconsin).
I’ve already done everything twice, except for the de-alcoholized wine, but that’s coming soon (I’ve already booked the date for Spain), so for those who want more complete information, I have an email address, and for everyone else (CAD those who don’t know my email address), it’s on the newsstand, and it’s really not bad, not bad at all in fact
