A band is doing the medoc’ effect, the I Am Un Chien, French electro-rock duo formed in 2006 by Douglas Cavanna and David Fontao (the brother of José Fontao, leader of Stuck In The Sound).

It emerges an energy reminiscent of the tunes of the late band Pixies (see: Fight Club soundtrack “Where Is My Mind”), on violent punk impulses of the great electro fathers of Prodigy (“Smack My Bitch Up”, “Voodoo People”, …)

For a little extra we went to meet Raphael Lopez:

RL: Wow, it’s hard to introduce yourself in less than 20 seconds…
Raphaël : producer, manager and tour manager of a very good electro band… and if you read slowly the 20 seconds are already over.

AF: Well, when I offered you this interview, you thought I was only going to focus on the I am a Dogs, so we’ll start with them,…
If I understand correctly you are their manager, and at the same time a fucking good PR with the videos you make for them,…

How was this group created?

RL: Before answering your first question, I would like to point out that the I AM A DOG videos are made by both myself and David Fontao. Let’s give Cesar his due anyway.

Now that things are back on track, I can answer your question:

I AM A DOG is a duet between Douglas Cavanna and David Fontao, and this musical alchemy was created thanks to “a joke”, that is to say the remix of “Don’t Shoot my little baby” (which was a song of their former rock band EMOTION AKIN TO TERROR). Once put on myspace, people got hooked and the remix buzzed. The group started to compose other titles… And that’s how the group was really born.

AF: What are their next projects?

RL: The next projects of the group are very beautiful dates with the STUCK IN THE SOUND and also some dates abroad like London or Moscow very soon…

AF: What about yours?

RL: My projects besides I AM A DOG are making music videos and other video projects. There, we realized with David Fontao, two clips and we are in full editing. So our schedule is always juggling a bit between clips, concerts, and social life. But it is a rhythm of life to take ahah

AF: What is ToasTa MisTa?

RL: TOASTA MISTA PRODUCTION, it is our structure which allows us to produce in a legal way clips like “OUAIS” of the STUCK IN THE SOUND, promotional Teasers like that of the company of dance “COMPAGNIE OSE”, or still quite simply to produce our short films…

It is quite varied TOASTA MISTA PRODUTION in fact…

AF : Say me, I get your Ipod, what do I find inside ?

RF: In my ipod… You will find STUCK IN THE SOUND, I AM A DOG, PHOENIX,YOU!, SPARKLEHORSE, COCONUT RECORDS, RATATAT, JEFF BUCKLEY, KORN, NIRVANA, ARCTIC MONKEYS … But the list is still very long …

The first EP of I Am Un Chien was released this Tuesday, we wish them to sell as many records as Prodigy, that is to say 16 millions !
